We arrived in Paris late afternoon and decided to gain some sustenance and a ''cheers to being holiday'' aperitif! At the end of the street where we were staying we found a lovely bar La Penderie for some Aperol Spritz and a huge cheese board. Following this we took the metro to Monmarte to have a wander round the artists quarter and see the Love wall - which unfortunately gets locked after a certain time so we had to look at it through some gates! We went on to the Sacre-Coueur Basilica and climbed the steps up to the top. Despite information in the guide book we couldn't climb the tower, it had shut early, but we got to have a look inside the impressive Basilica and we sat on the steps outside and watched the sunset over the city.
Whilst in the area we went to have a look at the Moulin rouge by night. The area itself isn't very nice - but it was great to see it all lit up. We found a bar called lulu white that did some really nice cocktails in Art Deco surroundings inspired by a New Orleans brothel madam - very 1920's!
