This was our first busy day of sightseeing and it began by getting the metro to Eco Militaire by the Eiffel Tower. We visited a boulangerie to pick up croissants and coffee and walked up Champ du Mars to the lawn surrounding the Eiffel Tower for a picnic breakfast with a view. The first up-close view of the Eiffel Tower is a moment you'll never forget.
Following breakfast we walked past the Eiffel Tower and up to the Trocadero for some more amazing views. We continued our walking tour by visiting the Arc De Triomphe - make sure you read instructions of how to buy tickets and reach it - it's got a confusing underground system! We wanted to go up the Arc de Triomphe as opposed to the Eiffel Tower so we would have to tower in our city views. I really loved the symmetry of the roads that the view provided too.
Our tour continued along the Champs Elysees and window shopping – we called in for some famous Laudree macarons. We passed the Grand Palais and the Place de la Concorde, stop for an excellent photo opportunity at Alexander Bridge. We stopped nearby here for some lunch and people watching.
Following lunch we spent some time relaxing in the Royal Tuileries Gardens, including a ride on some swings with a view and relaxing and people watching on deckchairs around the Octagonal pond. We were supposed to follow this with a visit to the Musee d'Orsay but by now it was getting towards late afternoon and we were tired!
In the evening we found a really cool cocktail bar called Little Red Door - I won't give too much away about it but you should definitely go! We then went to a restaurant called Le Derriere, again - you have to go. It is a restaurant set up in a House - so you could end up dining in a bedroom. There is also a wardrobe you can walk through to get to a secret smoking room.
