Day 3

We began our last day by making our second visit to the Trevi Fountain, but this time in day light. We arrived there around 10am and they were doing a daily clean (we watched them get 11 bags of loose change out of the fountain - apparently they do this daily and give proceeds to charity) It was just as good in the day as at night! One of my Rome highlights. We followed this up with a quick coffee at what was apparently one of Rome's best coffee shops - Caffe Sant'Eustachio.

Our next stop was the Pantheon, where I had timed it perfectly - at around 12 o clock you get a shaft of light coming through the roof to get that perfect photograph. We couldn't go to Rome and not have a Gelato so Venchi made a nice ice-cream lunch spot.

In the afternoon, we took the bus out to the Catacomb's and paid a visit to The Catacombe di San Sebastiano. Our tour took us below ground to see countless graves and three preserved mausoleums it was absolutely crazy to think about how old they were and to see graffiti from so long ago. It was a really interesting tour, led by an informative guide and ending in the Basilica. We arrived back in the early evening and traveled to the Trastevere area. We walked up to the Piazzale Guiseppe Garibaldi which gave views of the city - but a location definitely over-sold by lonely planet! The walk back to central Rome and found some lovely bars for an early evening drink.
